About the Garden

Greenhouse

“Your deepest roots are in nature. No matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of life you lead, you remain irrevocably linked with the rest of creation.”

– Charles Cook

Owned by the Orinda Unified School District, the Wagner Ranch Garden is a one acre organic garden classroom nestled between the Wagner Ranch Elementary School and the approximately eighteen acre Wagner Ranch Nature Area.

The creation of the garden was completed with the primary goal of providing children with an amazing outdoor education. The garden was created with volunteers and donations from many groups within the community over many years. Currently, the garden property contains a greenhouse, over twenty raised beds, fruit trees, and numerous native trees, plants, and grasses. There are several specimen valley oak trees and redwood and the garden supports an amazing array of wildlife including a resident barn owl.
